Polinela, Monday (01/04/2024). Pringsewu Regency held a historic moment in an effort to advance organic and sustainable agriculture. The First Organic Rice Harvest Festival, led by Acting Regent of Pringsewu Marindo Kurniawan in Tulungagung Village, Gadingrejo District, marks an important milestone in the transformation of agriculture in the region.

On this occasion, the presence of the Director of the Lampung State Polytechnic (Polinela), represented by the Cooperation Team Rizky Rahmadi, S.P., M.P., and the Coordinator of the Food Crop Production Technology Study Program, Dr. Dulbari, S.P., M.Si., provided strong support and appreciation for the organic agriculture development initiative by the Pringsewu Regency Government and PT. Pringsewu Jaya Sejahtera (Perseroda).

The first organic rice harvest at the Agung Makmur Farmers Group reflects a significant step forward in implementing Microbial-Based Cultivation Technology (BBM) as an alternative solution to chemical fertilizers. Using certified Sintanur variety seeds from the Organic Certification Institute (Inovice), this harvest serves as tangible evidence of a serious commitment to improving the increasingly critical condition of rice fields due to chemical fertilizer use.

Acting Regent of Pringsewu Marindo Kurniawan explained that this initiative focuses not only on improving farmers’ welfare and controlling inflation but also on the vision of making Pringsewu a leading organic food hub at the local, national, and international levels. This effort not only provides a sense of pride for Pringsewu Regency but also strengthens the existence of superior products from local production.

Moreover, this step aligns with efforts to replace subsidized fertilizers with organic fertilizers, which are now increasingly limited in allocation. BBM technology offers various advantages, including its ability to neutralize chemical residues in the soil, provide nutrients dynamically, inhibit pests and plant diseases, and comprehensively improve the texture, biology, physical, and chemical properties of the soil.

In this context, the Ghaly Tech Microbial Consortium (KMGT) is central to the application of BBM technology. This component, along with its Solid Microbial Consortium (KMP) and Liquid Microbial Consortium (KMC), can be produced in every regency in Indonesia because its raw materials are local, inexpensive, and abundant.

The first harvest festival was also attended by various related parties, including the Secretary of Pringsewu Regency Heri Iswahyudi, the Pringsewu Regency Government officials, the Chairperson of the Pringsewu TP-PKK Agnesia Marindo, and representatives from the Lampung Provincial Agriculture Office, Lampung Provincial BUMD PT. Wahana Raharja and PT. Lampung Jasa Utama, as well as Pringsewu BUMD PT. Pringsewu Jaya Sejahtera.
